Thankfulness & Contentment

Speaking of being thankful, we are finding ourselves constantly training the boys to not whine or complain or focus on what they don’t have that they want, but instead to be thankful for what they have and happy about it. I only wish I was living out that contentment and thankfulness all the time! Seeing in them the sinful attitudes I too display is eye-opening and convicting. How short-sighted and selfish of me to not be completely grateful with all that I have (It is SO much, and even if it were *only* my salvation, that is all that really matters and is of infinite value) and to miss out on the enjoyment of it because my eyes are wandering to other “stuff” I want too. [Sigh....] God is so patient.

For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
the LORD bestows favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold
from those who walk uprightly.”

(Psalm 84:11)

“Godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Timothy 6:6)
