Dad - This is what Zachary was talking to you about on the phone the other day. He spelled YOT 2 and said “Toy Story 2!” all excitedly. Yes, it is backwards, but his pediatrician reassures me kids think both right to left and left to right interchangeably until they are trained otherwise around age 5 and so no, Mrs. Wood, he is not dyslexic. Knowing that, I think it’s pretty cool that he is spelling on his own at age 3, accurately if you don’t count the backwards thing against him.

Update (12/7/07): Turns out Zach recognizes a lot of words when we spell them! Cookie, Mess, and Zoo are a few. And of course he has loved spelling his name for a long time now, even if he does say “Z-R-C-H-A-R-Y” and won’t change the R for an A!
