Diana – So the cake makes the website after all!

Last Tuesday our Girls’ Night was about Cake Decorating, led by Jessica. We learned some techniques and then got to experiment. Mine seriously was the most amateur result. Everyone else made some cool cakes!

So anyway, we had the cake with the family for dessert on Wednesday and we let Bryce have a piece to practice for his birthday this Thursday. Unlike his brother (who cried and didn’t want to have anything to do with it), he dove right in and got it all over!

Sunday was the Parent-Baby Dedication at church. Along with seven other sets of parents, we committed ourselves to raise our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Pastor Bob spoke on that and then prayed for each family. Jason’s parents, Brian, Kirsten, Aaron, Todd, and Joel all came – and sat in the front row.  Now THAT’S dedication!

The ladies in our ABF at church threw me a surprise baby shower!!! And was I ever surprised!!! They went to so much effort from the decorations to the cake and food to the games to the secret invitations to the generous gifts to all the warmth and love they showed to me and our family – such a gift from the Lord! Thank you thank you thank you for such a special time!

Since late spring/early summer Jason has been helping lead and teach C.L.A.Y. (an Adult Bible Fellowship at our church for singles and marrieds in their 20s and 30s). We love being part of such a close-knit group that loves the Lord and truly wants to follow Him. Our October event was an afternoon at Yates Cider Mill. Cider Mills are one the of the wonderful awesome things about autumn in Michigan. We enjoyed fresh cider, doughnuts, and carmel apples and then took a walk down the trail to, well, a barbed wire fence, and back. We enjoyed getting to know everyone who came just a little bit more.
