This is why I love kids. Their pure joy over the simplest things is infectious and I love it!

Ephesians 4:3-6
“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit
through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit -
just as you were called to one hope when you were called -
one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all,
who is over all and through all and in all.”
As I continue to meditate on Ephesians 4, verses 3-6 have helped to put it all in perspective and compel me to do as God says and make every effort to keep unity. When I am frustrated with someone, my (sinful) tendency is to want to cut that person out of my life to some degree. I get hurt or want something to work out differently and I think, “Forget it. I can get by without that person. I don’t need this.” That attitude is so self-focused and so out-of-touch with how God created us. These verses challenge me to never walk away, literally or in spirit, from a person I am struggling to love like Christ loves. To do so is ridiculous if we are Christians because we pray to the same God, have the same basis for our beliefs, have come to know Christ by the same grace given by God, and we have become one in Christ. It grieves the Holy Spirit to see us bring division to what should be a united Body, and I can see why. We shun people or build up walls for such petty, selfish reasons instead of doing the hard, humble work of forgiving even the smallest of offenses and continually living with a sacrificial attitude of peace and reconciliation. I really am valuing keeping the unity more than ever.
