Bryce was released Saturday and is doing much better. We are continuing the breathing treatments at home and his blood oxygen level was 97-98% at his check-up this morning. Much better, but he will return in two days for another follow-up. He is starting to be back to his old self. We thank you so much for your prayers. Kat, Veronica & Jules – your comments here were such an encouragement to me to know that old friends were in this with me, so to speak. Much love and thanks from our house to yours!

Bryce in Hospital

Bryce was admitted into the hospital yesterday morning. On Monday night through Wed AM Bryce had a fever and cold symptoms, possibly the flu (still awaiting lab results to determine if it was something viral or bacterial) and on the third day began to have labored breathing, presumably from reactive airways, like Zach gets (an indication of seasonal asthma). His blood oxygen levels were good (98%) Wed evening but he showed all signs of labored breathing – retracting in the neck and collarbone area, flared nostrils, wheeze, rattle in the chest – so we started him on oral steroids and breathing treatments. It wasn’t enough for the morning appointment, however. His blood oxygen levels were low (86% range), only 92% after an additional treatment. Doc wanted him in the hospital for the constant monitoring and immediate attention plus additional testing he would receive. We complied and Jason volunteered to stay with him. I am in awe of Jason’s steadiness, level-head, and forbearance through this all. I was frustrated to the point of tears just that Bryce couldn’t walk around when he wanted to walk (because of all the wires hooked up to him, leashing him to the monitors) or sleep when he needed to sleep (he oscillated between being exhausted and hyper). Jason is just so good with him and with difficult situations.

So at this point he will be there another night and hopefully be well enough to come home tomorrow. They tried taking him off oxygen today and he did great until he fell asleep. When he is sleeping his numbers dip too low. Please pray for him and for us – his health and everyone’s endurance and continued trust in the Lord.

The weather this fall has been SO gorgeous, on the border between cool and warm (aka – comfortable) and sunny most of the time. We are sure to have a load of freezing, gray days ahead so this is much appreciated and enjoyed! The boys have enjoyed all the extra outdoor time and are even managing to share their favorite car and play together. And I enjoy taking pictures of them having such a good time.

Zachary and BryceBryce

The boys with their cousin, Isaac. I think these three are going to have fun together and probably get into some trouble together in the years to come! I love how close in age they are. And how cute they are!

Cousins

Thought I better get a post up before leaving tomorrow for the scrapbooking weekend at Steph’s cabin. Here are the boys playing this morning before our daily walk with Grandma, Aunt Kirsten, Isaac & Madsen.
