MOD PODGE

March25

Four weeks in and I have yet to mention Mod Podge on any of my Friday projects. How can that be?! For those who don’t know (and if you don’t know, do you really know me???) I have a thing for Mod Podge, and I’m not the only one. Case in point:

So when my friends, Chris & Kelly, were getting married I thought it would be fun to experiment with some techniques I’d discovered and make them some original art. :) Since both have backgrounds in journalism, I thought stamping letters similar to a typeset look could be cool. I found my inspiration via How Does She? at Lulu’s Tiles: Luck of the Irish.  I tried stamping directly on the canvas initially but didn’t love the look, so….

Mod Podge to the rescue!!!

I stamped again, this time onto scrapbook paper, trimmed to size, photocopied it (critical! otherwise you’ll just smear ink everywhere!), then adhered it to the canvas with – you guessed it – Mod Podge! I decoupaged scrapbook paper to the sides as well, let dry, then slapped on another layer. In all honesty, it’s a bit more shabby than chic when it comes to craftsmanship (e.g, way too many wrinkles), but up on a nice high shelf it makes me smile and hopefully will make the bride and groom smile too!
